Activities for Troops and Crews

The GNFC COPE committee offers teambuilding, low COPE, and high COPE activities to the Scouting community. Spending a weekend on the COPE course will benefit your troop or crew by improving group teamwork as well as offering a fun, safe, and active way to train your youth leaders.

  • COPE days are available on a first come/first served basis, based on staff availability.
  • All participants must be age 13 or above and must bring a current copy of Parts A and B of the BSA Annual Health and Medical Record.

The GNFC COPE course is based at Camp Schoellkopf, near the banks of Cayuga Creek. COPE includes a series of individual and group challenges designed to build teamwork and leadership. These challenges are conducted by trained staff in "low", "medium", and "high" elements, through activities that move from the ground and climb to greater heights on ropes courses that culminate in a zipline ride back to the ground. Project COPE has nine main objectives

  • Communication
  • Planning
  • Trust
  • Teamwork
  • Leadership
  • Decision-Making
  • Problem-Solving
  • Self-Esteem
  • Fun

The GNFC COPE Committee supervises course construction and maintenance. The course is inspected and certified by the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America and the Association of Challenge Course Technicians.
