Paul Fleming

 

Paul Fleming serves as an Assistant Council Commissioner in the Western New York Scout Council.  Prior to the merger he served as Council Commissioner within Iroquois Trail Council, which encompassed Towpath, Seneca, and Nundawaga Districts.

Paul is a 35-year veteran of Scouting starting as a Cub Scout outside Philadelphia and Boy Scout in Newtown CT where he earned his Eagle.  He has served as Den Leader, Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, Unit Commissioner, District Commissioner, and Council Commissioner.  He is a member of the Scouting based college service fraternity Alpha Phi Omega, having earned the distinguished service key award.  He has attended Maine, Philmont, Northern Tier, and Sea Base high adventure bases as a crew member, along with Birchbark Expeditions.  He is a member of the Order of the Arrow. He is the recipient of the District Award of Merit and Council Silver Beaver awards.

He is an electrical engineer by profession and has been granted 10 US Patents. His work principally has focused on land, air, and space-based imaging systems.  He is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (BSEE), University of Rochester Simon School (MBA), and did graduate work at Cornell.  Paul and his wife Carolyn have 3 adult children.
