The Western New York Scout Council, Boy Scouts of America is proud to bring back “Scouting 4 Food” in association with Feedmore of WNY, and Tops Markets to benefit Feedmore of WNY and other local food pantries.  We have broadened our Good Turn for America initiative to continue to show the importance of Scouting in our community.

The 2024 campaign begins on Saturday, March 16th. Scouts go door-to-door distributing mini-fliers, notifying the community of our campaign.  On Saturday, March 23rd, Scouts return to those neighborhoods to collect the bags filled with canned goods. The timing of the campaign coincides with the spirit of giving and appreciation associated with the upcoming Easter holiday season.

What: An area-wide food drive conducted to support agencies that provide food to those in need. The Western New York Scout Council conducts this food drive in six counties across Western New York.

When: Saturday, March 16, 2024 – Tag Distribution Day

Saturday, March 23, 2024 – Food Collection Day

How: Scouts go throughout their community to distribute door tags and, a week later, return to collect bags filled with canned goods.  Units deliver food to Feedmore or their preferred food pantry.  To sign up for this campaign and receive the door tags, please complete the form located HERE and either turn it in or email it to patrick.covell@scouting.org.

There will also be an in-store option for Scout units to participate on March 23rd.  Scout units can sign up for a three-hour shift to hand out fliers to Tops patrons as they enter the store and then collect donations as they depart the store.  The Scouts can then deliver the donations to either Feedmore or to the food pantry of their choice.    The fliers list what Feedmore of WNY needs most:  Canned soups, stews, tuna fish, meats, fruits, vegetables, and infant formula.  To sign up for a Tops location near you, please sign up through the link provided below.

Select the closest available Tops Store to your unit. As a unit select a community food bank or similar organization to give all donations collected to. Units are responsible for transporting donations to their chosen organization.
